Dynamics within the general audit
In order to comply with international standards in terms of audit practices, the Group General Audit Department began a certification process in 2019. Certified in May 2021, it decided to extend this approach to its subsidiaries, including SCB Cameroon.
After an evaluation and diagnostic process, then alignment with IFACI standards (of audit practice), the SCB General Audit Department also obtained its certification under No. IFACI/2024/0217r in May 2024.
Indeed, for more than a year, all of the Audit employees - a total of 11 people including the Director - participated in the certification process organized in three (03) main phases:
- • In the first phase, methodological support work for the Group Audit (during 2022 and 2023) followed by an action plan;
- • In the second phase, a blank assessment by the IFACI certification body in December 2022 followed by an action plan;
- • And in the last phase, a final assessment in December 2023 by the IFACI certification body, which resulted in certification last May.
Committed to improving auditing practices within the bank, Mr. Mekouar's teams did not stop there and began various actions including the organization of a day dedicated to:
Taking stock of the activity at mid-term
Thinking about strategies to implement for a successful landing in 2024.
Named "Audit Day", it took place on Friday, September 13 at Academia SCB with the following on the program:
- Exchanges
- Presentations
- Brainstorming
It ended with a relaxing evening with tropical flavors with special guests the General Manager Mr. Alexandre BEZIAUD accompanied by Ms. Madeleine KOUM Deputy General Manager of SCB Cameroon.
In his speech for the occasion, the General Manager encouraged the Audit teams to continue this great momentum rewarded by their IFACI certification.
